Saturday...

Here it is again!!! Saturday!!! How'd that happen!?!
My Sophia spent three nights with us this week...which meant three afternoon/evenings and three mornings/afternoons...which annie! grandma absolutely loved.
Then...one day this week...I spent the morning at her house where her mommy, my darling daughter Hillary, dyed my hair.

It turned out kind of orange!!! Not a cool arty orange...but an "OMG-that old lady dyed her hair orange" said in a snickering sort of way. I'm just hoping it'll fade a bit with a few washings. And if it doesn't...oh well!
I didn't get much more done with my circles and still have about 20 of them to make but Sophia and I worked on her jewelry box. It's almost finished!
I also worked on a crazy quilt block for a round robin with my Colombian Quilt Group. A couple weeks ago, when I hosted our meeting, I told them not to bring anything and I offered up some of my scraps for each of them to make a crazy quilt block.
They're all accomplished traditional quilters...and I'm NOT...but none of them had tried this method, so it was fun to teach them...and even more fun to get rid of some of those scraps. Anyway, they each went home and made a block and the following week, we exchanged them and will each do some stitching until they eventually come back around to the owner. I let my block get away before taking a picture but here are the two I'm working on this week. (I missed the exchange last week due to dental work).
While sitting downstairs with Sophia, I glued bits and pieces to a journal page and then added a little paint for the background of who knows what.
And...that's it for me this week...artistically speaking.

Hope yours was great and exciting and full of love and happiness and all that good stuff. I'm feeling great today and off to work on Sophia's costume.
Oh yeah...I went to a party this week and one of the ladies there saw my bohemiannie! bag
and asked me to make one for her...
so those two items will be the focus for this week.

Off to the races!!!

  1. Just remember, orange is the color of creativity, so a little orange hair could be a good thing. Love the circles, love the bag! xox Corrine

  3. I love the idea of your orange hair. Now, you'll have no regrets about wishing you'd had the courage to do crazy things with your hair when you're old drooly. (LOL). The time with your granddaughter sounds WONDERFUL!!

  7. Thank you Vintage Green but don't be so sure. :) I love what Corrine said too! Makes me feel much better because after all - orange is my favorite color! I've made and sold so many of those bags...just by carrying them...but this one will be the first in Colombia! Yee hawww!

  8. Thanks Ann! :) They DO look a little like me but more like other family members...but I'm happy for any credit I can get. :) And yes, I'm thankful it didn't turn green...or fall out...or....or worse!!! I pulled out all the fabrics that MIGHT go into Sophia's costume and now just need the "Boss" to give the word. Now I'm on to the newest bag.

  10. Lol I want orange hair but would only have have an orange style as half of my hair is too dark for it yet but I guess it won't be long now.
    The bag is gorgeous!

  11. Thank you Kathryn! I have so much I want to do!!! Thanks for the encouragement about my orange hair! Now that I've read a few comments...I'm looking in the mirror and laughing...instead of the other thing.

  12. Thanks Manon! Half of my hair was still dark too...so it's a little streaky...which I might really like once I get used to it! :) I might just start selling those bags again. I've just been digging out fabric to make the commission piece and getting a little excited about possibilities. Don't you just love going through your stash?!?

  13. You have had a hugely busy week, and I really loved your journal page... it is beautiful. I love the buzz you get from teaching something you love... it flows through the rest of the week doesn't it. xx

  15. oh how lucky that you have a helper to dye your hair. i have really long brown hair and it takes me forever to dye it but i do it solo. two boxes of that clairol ammonia stuff is needed in my case, every THREE weeks. yet i do it to save the outrageous salon price.

thank you for all your kind words avout my creations. you know am nuts about yours too. it's hard to keep up with all the creative souls out there these days so have tried to narrow it down to fabric which is what i like best.

have a wonderful week and stay in touch.

  16. You're welcome Constanza! I AM lucky to have my daughter nearby. :) This is the first time I've done a dye job at home in ages...but it is horribly expensive at the salon. Not sure I would have left a beauty shop with orange hair though. HA! It's kind of growing on me. :) WOW! I sure hope I don't have to do this every three weeks!!! That would be NO fun.
I really LOVE your creations and am starting to feel the same way. As much as I love all the other art out there...I don't have time to comment on it. Fabric is my passion.

  21. It sure does Robin! I just realized THIS morning that we leave for the States in ONE month. Pressure is ON. I think I'm gonna try to sell some of my bags online before I go...and mail them from Florida. What do you think?!? And THANKS for all your support and encouragement!!!

  22. Thanks Gio! I feel so much better after hearing you say that!!! Actually...the response I've gotten has outweighed what I see when I look in the mirror so it's all good!

    Happy Sunday to you TOO!!!

  26. Lol! I love orange hair. I dyed my hair his weekend too and I wanted it to be orange but it turned out more redish. But that's ok. It's just hair. :)

  27. Hi Coleen! It was a busy week and the next four are gonna be mega busy!!! But I work well under pressure and in this case love what I'm doing. The reward is...I get to spend 19 days in the States with family and friends during Thanksgiving! :) Thanks re the bag. :) I'm almost finished with the commissioned piece. :) :) And YES! Sophia is IT. :)

  29. The best thing about hair is that it just keeps growing. So I say celebrate your orange hair! And if anyone gives you that look, just give it right back. I mean after all, there must be something off about a person who doesn't appreciate orange!

  30. LOL...you got that right! Orange is a fabulous color! And thanks. :) xxooxx
