Several months ago...actually it's been a year now...a book / paper / digital artist, Bronia Sawyer, that I've never met (but hope to one day)
emailed to ask if I'd like to swap a bit of art. I had never been asked before and really didn't know how to respond but my first reaction was...YIKES!
The last time I mailed an envelope from Colombia it cost a ridiculous amount and took 25 days to get to the recipient.
So, I - as kindly as I knew how - sent an email telling her no. (Can you believe that)?!?
I regretted declining IMMEDIATELY and wrote back - after I got the nerve up a few days/weeks (who knows at this point) later - to let her know I'd changed my mind. :)
I know... fickle. I figured out (duh) that I could send mail from the States next time we went. (We go out with empty suitcases so...hey)! But I didn't hear back for awhile and let it slide.
Anywho...I finally got her address and sent her a simple bookmark...just because. Really not expecting anything in return.
She then asked for my address and sent me the exquisite paper birds you see in these pictures. The one with the flowers that's attached to string is hanging near where my Claire Bear sleeps.
I'm in TOTAL awe of the art Bronia creates...and she changes up things on a regular basis...so if you go look...I know you'll find something you love. Much of her work simply BLOWS MY mind.
When in FL last month, I made a little door knob quilt for her which I blogged about here if you want to take a look/see.
Bronia is prolific in producing beautiful works of art and has an extremely awesome website that I hope you'll visit.
Tell her annie! says, "Hi"!

Awesome Bronia. That was fast! I haven't had a chance to let you know I'd done it...so I'm happy to see...you know! I love my birds! xxooxx
DeleteAnd yes...I'd love to do another swap!
Deleteoh annie , she does beautiful work, as do you! I had some one ask to swap work art once and I accidentally deleted the email and could never figure out who it was, I would love to do that!!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you looked at her art Laurie! Thank you for both of our compliments. :) What a shame that you lost the email. I think...if you were to put it out on your blog that you'd like to swap...you'd have ALL the work you could do to keep up. I'd be happy to send you a bookmark...and you don't have to mail anything in return...but I won't be in the States again...for months. Darn it all.
DeleteCool paper sculptures! I like how you show Bronia's birds with your pictures of birds. Clever!
ReplyDeleteAren't they beautiful?!? I've been showing my vaca pix in chronological order (you probably know that by now) and the bird really just happened to be the next one up...but I love how the 'system' works sometimes. Wait a minute, what am I saying?!? Of course I'm clever. Thank you.
DeleteWhat a wonderful exchange this became! I am sure she loved you door quilt let. Lucky her, lucky you!
