LOVE BIRDS

I'd like to show you my little birdies that I gave away for Valentine's Day last month. A couple of them flew the coop before I got pix but they're happy so that's really all that matters.

It's a good time to sit at the computer and slow down a bit.

I feel a little like I'm in a race today.

My list:

I was helping with Artists in Blogland before my computer went down and haven't had time yet to pick up my 'duties' for that website again. Hopefully, my list will be smaller when we get back from the States so I can quit feeling guilty about not helping.

We're headed to Florida where I'll teach a workshop on two different days! My version of Jennibellie's art journals. I'm trying to make as many of them as possible before I go.

My friend, Marlene Glickman, has invited me to teach the workshop at her studio in Clearwater and suggested I bring some items to sell while there...so I'm also working on 'stuff' to sell.

Yep-there's one in every crowd.

Marlene and I have collaborated on several pieces and I'd love to have a bit done on what I'm working on with her before heading North.

I have more words than birds so thought I'd show you some of the Carnaval de Barranquilla decorations.

We have to renew our Visas - and the paperwork for that is totally - well never mind...you don't want to know.

I booked our flights this week, put a deposit on a condo ON THE BEACH and have looked at the cost of rental cars but I'm going to wait on that one in hopes the prices will go down.

My friend, Ann, from Studio Hyde sent me two watercolors that are absolutely the most wonderful works of art!!! I'm so thrilled and excited with them and want them in frames asap...so I've been looking and thinking about that and can't wait to show you!

Sophia is here 5 days a week...which is why I'm in Colombia...so I'm not complaining...really...but I'm not able to get more than 5-10 minutes of anything done while she's here because she wants my attention and honestly, I want to give it to her. It blows me away that she'll be 5 this year and I'm happy making the most of every day with her.

One of my Colombian Quilt Group gave me this calendar page and asked that I make a small wall hanging for her. Gulp. I'll show you the results in another post.

I have GREAT news!!! Sophia is going to be a big sister in August!!! So I'm gonna be a triple grannie! We're all happy and excited and annie! grandma is a little bit concerned about getting into better shape so I can do a better job of annie! grannie-ing.

I'm also totally thrilled about the way my little door knob quilts are coming out and finished them today...all but the hanging apparatus part...which is in the works.

I know you've seen this one before...but he's just SO cute! and it reminds me of the picture of Sophia above!!!

More later,

more painted fabric

these are now quilts that look totally different

    1. Thank you Carolyn! When I read back I realize that I just slipped the most important news in up there but it really IS the most important news! I've known since Christmas but my daughter wanted me to wait for the announcement so the newness has worn off a bit...but not the excitement!!!

    1. Thanks so much Ann! Sophia talks about her little brother often...and has named him Tree. She's already anticipating his arrival! I keep telling her it might be a little girl and she insists that it's not! I think she realizes...even at 4 years old...that there can't be but one Princessa in the house at a time! and...I just realized that I forgot to add links to your website (and others) so I'm off to do that now!

  7. Lovely birds. Lovely fabrics. Lucky people who get to take your classes and see your work in person! And congrats on anticipating the newest arrival. Tree made me laugh. The oldest spuds named spud 3 Blue Pencil before he was born. I think it was meant to be an honor.

    1. Thanks! They were - are - scrappy little things and as always, I love using up my little bitty bits and pieces! Tree makes us laugh too. :)My hubby is calling the baby Monkey Boy - although at this point we still don't know if it's a boy or a girl. :) Sophia does NOT like his nickname AT ALL. And yes...Blue Pencil sounds like an immensely honorable name. :)

  9. annie: have you tried renting through a site called Home Away? we use it all the time for our travels and so much more affordable than hotels. they do charge a cleaning fee but you might find something that works.

congrats on the news of a new granschild and have fun at the workshop, wish i could come. is it in florida? if it is, now i can send you something in the mail once you have an address. keep in touch.

    1. Hola Constanza! Yes...we did look at Home Away...for the first time...but the only place we could find in our price range that was still available was through FlipKey. I'll be using one of those two sites in future and happy I found them.
Thanks for the congrats! I wish you could come to the workshop too! One of these days we'll meet. My brother in Orlando told me he'd save mail for me so I'll send you his address in a private email. Cool Whip!
PS - hope this finds you feeling better!

    1. OH NO! I hope this finds you totally better!!! I’m sure you’ve used the time to the best advantage mentally…even if it was just to sleep and I look forward to seeing the art that comes out of your forced R&R. I’m so happily busy these days getting ready to go to the States. Last night and today I’ve been looking at your tutorials and working on a greeting card journal which I’m delighted with so far. I’m NOT paper and glue friendly so it’s a bit challenging…but I do love the results so I’m gaining experience and enjoying the process. And yes…the workshop will be a blast and your name will be famous in South Central Gulf Florida!  Love, health, peace and all wonderful things to you. Say hi to your mom for me.

  14. The birds are just so cute annie! I saw my picture didn't pop up so I went to the follow button and followed....again. Don't know what happened as I thought I was following you before. Am now.
Congratulations on being a grandma again. How blessed your family is to have you nearby to help. And that little Sophie is a doll. I'll bet she keeps you hopping.

  15. Aw...thanks again Coleen! I appreciate you following and who knows what happened?!? Sometimes, after weeks, I realize I haven't 'seen' someone in awhile and same thing happens. We are very excited about the new baby. Hillary is about 18 weeks now and feels him/her kicking already. I'm definitely busy with my Sophia...but she's gonna be a great little helper when the new one arrives!
