PROGRESS!

My door knob quilts aren't finished in these pictures...but in real life...they're up and hanging.

Yay!

Sophia and I worked on Claire's quilt last week.

I had planned on getting out my fabric paints and brushes...and then reconsidered.

I saw -in my mind - Sophia with said tools - with the quilt in the mix - and decided fabric markers would be the way to go.

We had so much fun!

I hooped some practice fabric for Sophia since she's only colored on cloth once previously and she went to town.

Her fearless, enthusiastic attitude teaches me so much.

Create your life,

annie!

    1. Thanks Annie. I'm behind with posting pictures. I do it more to keep myself straight than anything else…but also to let family and friends see what I'm up to here in Colombia…so sorry if the pix get repetitive. And Sophia…yes…she loves art!

    1. She does totally focus…and thankfully - now that Claire will be here any minute - it sometimes lasts for an hour or more!

  5. What a treasure that quilt is becoming. I can't wait to see it. And what a wonderful way to involve the big sister in anticipating the arrival of the little sister.

    1. Thank you Charlene! That's exactly what I thought. I debated about letting her help me fill in those white spaces…but it didn't take me long to realize that it would be wonderful to see her explaining to her little sister all about when/how we did it! And I knew that she'd be delighted to be part of the project that I'd been working on for so long.

  6. Your doorknob quilts are beautiful! However, I'm wondering why they are called doorknob quilts?

    1. Thanks Tina! I sell and give away lots of my art and didn't want my friends or family to feel like they had to hammer a nail into the wall to hang one of my pieces…so…I started making them smaller…and put a hanger on them so that they could be hung anywhere. I had so many at one time that there was one on every door knob in my house and…hence…decided to call them that! Thanks for asking!

    1. That's a name I gave them because they were hanging on every door knob in the house when I was getting ready for a trip to the States. Thanks Pat!

  11. I really enjoyed reading your post this morning. Creating something with our grandchildren is so such a special time. I always find that they can teach me so much more than I can teach them. And we have so much fun learning together.
