Coming Home

Tonight, my son will be coming home from his second deployment to Iraq.

I didn't cry the whole time he was gone but often find myself in tears this past week. 

His precious wife can't sleep, eat or sit still.

She called today to ask for help in making some bows for red, white and blue bunting that she's hanging around the living room - and was on the webcam - which was a real treat for me.

I laughed the whole 18 minutes that we talked.

Now, I'm waiting until around 10:30 pm Central time for her to call from her phone so I can be part of his homecoming.

I think I'll go cry now.

    I read this and just had to comment! My son was deployed by the Australian Army to Iraq about two years ago and will be heading to Afghanistan in the new year. I know how tough it is for the serving members and their families.

    Give thanks to your son and I give thanks to all his family also. You all make LOTS of Sacrifices and deal with so much while our loved ones are deployed. Been there done that twice also. My son is Career Army and so proud of all he's done.
    Enjoy the Welcoming Home, help him readjust by keeping busy and God Bless You All.

    I do mention him from time to time. He's so happy to be home and we had an hour and a half on the phone with him this morning just enjoying watching him (on the webcam) BE happy. His wife is over the moon. Thank you so much Ann!

    Thank you Caatje! He arrived late last night and it was pure joy to see him via web cam this morning. :) We're all happy campers and I think I've had a few good crys and don't feel a need for anymore right now. :) Just plain happy!

    Thank you Sylvia! From one heart to another, I thank you. Bear is also career Army, as was my dad, and is actually thriving. My hubby and I live in Colombia, South America so were no where near the homecoming last night...except in Spirit!

    I am not sure how you and your DIL cope ...you are amazing women ...like the many other wives and mothers with sons fighting ...I worry about my son driving to work in bad weather coditions ....how weak am I? xx
