I am honored, once again, to be part of Seth Apter's Master Class in his ongoing artist interviews (Sunday morning - the 15th). How cool is that?!?

I'm not sure which link he'll be using to bring his readers to my blog so I thought I'd give a little info here...

The question he asked for this issue was..

'If you could take a class from one artist from anytime in history, including the present, who would it be and why?'

My answer was Gustav Klimt.

His work has been 'reproduced' many times by many artists and if you take a look here...you'll see why.

My rendition of The Kiss - made totally out of fabric scraps and a little paint.

  4. Wow, you did a fabulous job. There are many Paul Klee paintings that I've always thought would translate well to fabrics.

  7. this is absolutely incredible. I would LOVE to see this up close bc I'll bet the textures are absolutely rad. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets so much out of reinterpreting Old Masters' work! (in my case, Turner landscapes)

  11. Klimt has always intimidated me - the artwork has always blown me away with the detail work and the play with pattern, and color design... so it's no surprise that I was blown away again with your creation... YOU HAVE DONE It WITH GRACE!

    1. Thank you, thank you a million times! I could never have come up with something like this on my own. It really is a 'copy' but you know...the Masters used to copy the old masters so if it's good enough for them...It's great for me!

  12. Wow! I never even thought of trying to do derivative work in fabric. I'm not sure I'll start, but I am sure I'll be viewing paintings with a different perspective from now on.
