EVOLUTION 2K12

I've been

(and love)

altering books

(and making tags for the pockets in them)

and am thrilled

to be working on another.

Whenever I'm altering a book...

or creating one from fabric...

I feel like this is what I am meant to be doing.

I feel that way with other creations too

but there's something totally serendipitous

about altering a book

or making a page

from little bits and pieces that tell me what to do with them.

There are no rules

and I love the spontaneity of lovingly rummaging through my stash for just the right piece to add next.

I could write a book about how I love going about the process...

but my newest creation is calling me.

I've named it EVOLUTION 2k12.

Linking to Paint Party Friday so you can see what other wonderful artists are up to!

  9. Thanks Geri! I love how it chose me too! I had thought meditate was it because I really want to develop that in my life. (I’m up to about 40 seconds of real focus before I zone out). Anyway…I will continue to practice and you know what they say…”Practice Makes Perfect”. Let me know how your process is working! Happy, Happy to you too!!!

  11. Thanks Robin! The color is not my usual...but I just picked up the 'blue/green' bin of paint this time because...well...it told me to. :)I'm thinkin it's part of that evolution thing...but that's another post!!!

  13. This is beautiful. I know that feeling - the "I'm meant to be doing this" one. If you love creating books, you should join the postcard challenge. More about it here. It's not too late as we only started this week. A postcard a week to go in a book - a bit like Nick Bantock's Sabine & Griffin.

  23. You are so talented! I love to make things like this and have gotten away from it. I just maybe will get back to it again. But I will add my tatting to it. I love the contrast.

  24. Thank you Linda! I hope you will get back to 'it' because if you're anything like me...my heart is just singing these days...I added a piece of lace to one of the tags and when plan more of the same. I tried tatting YEARS ago and got about 4 inches done in the same time it took both my neighbors to do a few feet each!!! Whew. I admire anyone that can handle that very beautiful art.

  25. I love the fact that your art tells you what to do. I try to explain that about the fabric I work with but most folks just give me "that look". I like the blues and greens you are working with on this on. Very different from what I've seen of your usual style.
