HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAR!

People Let Your Light Shine Fabric Book

Here we are -

at Bear's house

This (and following) is the progression of the next page of my book

on his 30th birthday

along with my hubby

and Danny, a good friend of Bear's (and ours) from the Cape

and a couple of Bear's battles from the motor pool

for grilled hamburgers and hot dogs...

and of course BIRTHDAY cake.

Yum.

There's enough to feed an Army.

We've been having a beautiful week with our son

and look forward already to coming again next summer when he returns from Afghanistan.

Two days of yard sale-ing and thrifting so far.

Taken yesterday while looking for yard sales.

Today I organized the kitchen a bit.

Loved this area for yard sales!

And cooked. And baked.

She laughed at me for wanting to take her picture.

I made potato salad...and Rum Cake...at Bear's request.

I miss my girls somethin foolish.

Create Your Life,

We rode out by one of the lakes.

annie!

Totally enjoying Texas.

    1. Thanks Corrine! The steer head - made of scrap metal - was sold to whomever owns that red pick-up. We saw it on the way in to the flea market...and even though it wouldn't fit in our suitcases...were sad that we didn't get there first. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    1. Thanks so much Gill! I've made rum cake for several years now for special occasions. Usually Christmas. I got my recipe from one of those wonderful fundraiser cookbooks. This one is the recipe (below) I used yesterday with the exception of milk instead of water - and sliced almonds (since we had them) in place of walnuts. My favorite is chopped pecans. Oh, and rot gut rum bought especially for the last Rum Cake I made when here 5 months ago. ") You'll be glad you tried it.

  4. Happy birthday Bear! I LOVE seeing the progression of your beautiful work. That has become one of the most magical parts of art for me, the shaping of a piece of art. I've started to realize *that's* the magic, not the finished piece. And it's so liberating!

    1. Oh gosh...I have to totally agree. Except that the finished piece IS magical and more so when the process has been!

      Doube thanks!

  6. So pleased to know you are having such a wonderful time. What a lovely boy your son looks, sensible and kind is what comes over in the photo. Oh, and those yard sales, they look fun, I would be spending hours looking through everything! Did you buy the bull (how does that fit in your luggage)!!!

    1. LOL! Thanks Ann. The bull was in someone else's truck on our way in to a flea market. Darn it all!

  9. Those process photos!! How cool!
I hope Bear had a great birthday. Love these photos. I haven't had a yard sale in ten years, and probably should. So much crap! Anyway, I'm sorry if you've been answering any of my comments here because I just never come back to see people's replies! I've tried to remember, because a lot of people do that on their blogs, but I just never have enough time to do everything I love doing, such as reading blogs! So I have to apologize if I've missed answers.

    1. hanks Chris. Yep...got your name off the Disney badge. He did have a great birthday. One of his friends from FL and a few of his Army buddies joined us for a cook out. Good memories. :)

As they say in Colombia...No worries! If I have an email address...and in your case I do...I reply to it and then copy the email into my comments...so either way...you'll get an answer from me. Thanks a ton for visiting and commenting.
