5100 PRAYER FLAG

While in Florida recently, I used my minimal 'sitting' time to work on a Prayer Flag for our new house.

We still haven't closed...but hubby is there to tie up loose ends...and it's looking good.

In my heart, I know the house is ours.

I found a basket full of different colored blue cabochons and took them to the back yard and placed them on the ground where the sun catches them. Love the sparkle. I put the basket in the pantry to wait for me.

I also found an orchid at IKEA for $3 in their bargain room. It was not in the greatest shape...but I placed the pot under a tree in the back yard...near a fence where I hope to hang as many orchids as I can. I expect it'll be blooming by the time I get there in May.

I didn't get to hang the Prayer Flag on our light post in the front yard but hubby did it for me after I left.

He learned how to use the camera on his cell phone to take a picture of it after he hung it. Huge accomplishment for him! Thanks Darlin.

I haven't seen the picture yet...but can imagine it spreading peace and love and all things groovy throughout our neighborhood.

IT'S A SHORE THING

One of my lovely, artsy friends who came to visit when I first got to St Pete,

brought me a bowl...a goldfish bowl for lack of a better term...to decorate.

She's one of my besties...so I didn't have the heart to say No...

even though I knew my play time was short and sweet while there.

And I'm glad I didn't say no (which was my first thought...only it sounded more like NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!)

because it was a project that stretched my boundaries and ended up being lots of fun and really rewarding.

Said friend volunteered to recruit local artists to bling up these bowls to use as table centerpieces for Dunedin Fine Arts Center's upcoming Garden Party.

This is their biggest annual fundraising event and the bowls will be auctioned off as part of their effort to raise money for all the really wonderful programs they put on all year long.

I actually love the way mine turned out - as evidenced by the dozens of pictures I took of it.

The guidelines said to decorate the inside of the bowl...using the "It's A Shore Thing" theme...but being a bit of a rebel...I went for the outside.

That-a-way...the inside can still be used for.........ummmm....stuff. Food, marbles, flowers, you know.....stuff.

Using lots of different glues, items that I picked up, some that I brought with me, found, was given, or received in the mail...I went to town.

I made little beads to place around the rim with left-overs...but still not sure if I'm crazy about the way they look on it.

I didn't like it for days because while you could see the palm trees and sky just fine...

the shore was kind of hidden when it was sitting on the table...

so one day while thrifting...with said friend...I bought a pedestal that just happened to fit perfectly on the bottom of the bowl

and really transformed it.

I put a little tea candle in it and boy did that make it look good.

No shame here.

I'll let you know if it sells...and if it doesn't, I'M buying it!

Wonder if I can get an absentee bidding ballot?!?
