BILLING AND COOING
Barranquilla is a city of roughly 2.5 - 3 million people all living on a piece of earth which is roughly 12 -14 miles from north to south and maybe half that distance across. Like every big city...we have our share of pigeons.
My granddaughter was here a couple weekends ago when a pigeon nearly flew into our living room window. It excited and freaked us both out a little bit. Since then, I've seen them flying close to the window several times.
Well...as hubby and I were having coffee a few mornings ago, I kept hearing this noise that reminded me a little of a strong wind...which we have here in abundance. But this sound was in short continuous spurts so I knew it wasn't wind. Plus, I was sitting next to our open window and...well...anyway, it wasn't the wind.
I was reading at the time and after a few minutes of it, I asked hubby if he heard it. He said, "Yeah, it sounds like somebodies washing machine". Well...it didn't sound like that to me.
It hit me all of a sudden that it was the billing and cooing of pigeons and so I went to investigate out our apartment door where the noise was loudest.
Up the stairs...in the hallway...there were these two little love birds just totally enjoying each others company. Until I interrupted that is.
I took two pictures, which they didn't appreciate at all and then left them to it.
They billed and cooed for a couple more days...usually in the morning...but I think one of the neighbors may have chased them off because they haven't been here since.
Am I a little crazy to be a bit disappointed? The thought of all that lovey dovey stuff going on outside our door just made me happy.
Create Your Life,
annie!
They must have specially chosen to be near your apartment, knowing you would take their photo.....they can show their kids where it all began. Lol. Ybf ann
ReplyDeleteI think you've got it, by Jove! LOL! Love the way you think girlfriend.
DeleteI'm with you. I would have enjoyed them so much. Beautiful pics Terah.
ReplyDeleteI know that lots of people think they're a nuisance...but they're delightful in my book! Thanks Terah.
Deletejust in case you don't want more of those visitors: hang a couple of cd's in the balcony so that they sway and twirl in the wind. dont't know if it's the shine or the noise they make when they twirl that keeps them away. ask me how i know.
ReplyDeleteHOW do you know?!?!?
DeleteNot a lover of pigeons but have morning doves, pigeons really...wnder what baby pigeons look like? Now I am wnderng how they nest? Hmmmm might jave to read up on pigeons now...xox
ReplyDeleteWhat?!?! You don't love pigeons?!? Maybe after your research, you'll feel differently. :) xxxxooooxxx
DeleteI agree with Ann! I think they were looking for a new home and felt your good vibes!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure they've moved up one floor...which in this building is the penthouse. I still see them flying close but they continue on up. :)
DeleteI liked the little peek into your apartment. We have pigeons too - the good ones (two wood pigeons) and the bad ones (feral pigeons) who bring all their friends and their extended family to eat the seeds we put out for the little birds.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila. LOL...I almost didn't post the apartment pix because of the computer cord running across the floor...but hey...that's real life.
DeleteAnd I thought Philadelphia was the pigeon capital of the world :) Your apartment looks cute! Hugs, Terri
ReplyDeleteThanks Terri! They're not that numerous here. Maybe that's why I like them. :)
DeleteThank you for visiting my blog. I enjoyed looking at all your purse and journal pictures. Your work is very unique.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Judy...and thank YOU!
DeleteAwww how sweet!
ReplyDeleteIt totally was. Gave me the warm fuzzies and still does every time I think about it.
