TWO MILLION DOLLAR VIEW
I've always wanted to live in a city. Preferably in a penthouse apartment with fabulous views above a funky, artsy shopping area...which would of course include great restaurants.
Well...I'm not there yet...but our new digs fit part of the request.
When we first moved in, I looked forward to taking breaks from cleaning and organizing to just sit at my breakfast table and watch the world from my new perspective.
I would say to my hubby, "We have a million dollar view"! To which he would reply, "No, we don't. We have a $450 view". (That's what our rent roughly translates to from COP to USD). (Though other than services - that's about the only thing cheap here).
We see things differently.
I usually look up.
He usually looks down. Not always.
But I digress.
I am convinced that we have a fabulous view and when you see the pictures in this and future blogs...you'll know what I mean.
When I look out the window...I always sort of have to catch my breath. It's just that wonderful to me.
The city skyline, sunrise, sunset, Rio Magdalena, the Caribbean, the sky...watching my granddaughter leave for school. Oh you wouldn't believe the view we have of thunderstorms - even though I haven't gotten a good shot of them yet.
The picture above was taken at an outdoor restaurant in Las Flores that serves the BEST, FRESHEST fish anywhere in Barranquilla.
We didn't have an oven for the first couple weeks (oh darn) and had to eat out, so after an especially arduous day of working at the apartment, we treated ourselves.
Hubby loves this section - well all of - Rio Magdalena. I've pointed out to him that we can see the river winding along the other side of the highrises (if you look closely at the pix above you can see it too) to encourage a higher assessment of our view and he's coming to appreciate it more...when he puts on his glasses.
But that's another story for another day.
I love the view. New views gives us different perspectives. Sometimes I will lay on the floor in my bedroom and my daughter ask what are you doing I say I'm looking up at the ceiling. For "What", She ask.I reply it gives me a different perspective.
